SPRING (2nd half)

After School Clubs

There are a wide variety of clubs available for your child this next half term (Spring 2nd half). Below you can find the details.

We are continuing to use our established system of enrolment for clubs where parents come along at the end of the school day and sign their child's name onto club registers.  Please remember club fees must be paid in advance. Please come along to our enrolment event where you will be able to enrol your child and pay for the sessions for the half term(5 weeks). Enrolment will take place Wednesday 22nd February 2012 at 3.40pm (at the bottom of the steps outside reception). If you have missed this enrolment date but are still interested in a particular club please just ask at the school office for availability.

Somali Club
At Chestnuts we have an after school club for our Somali children and their parents. The club takes place every Friday 3.40-4.30pm and is free of charge. The children have a chance to learn traditional Somali songs and stories. They also get help with their homework, reading and writing. At the end of each term they go on a trip (i.e to the cinema or have a picnic). Every year our Somali children and their parents proudly perform Somali dancing and singing for our International Evening.

This club is open to children from all year groups and parents are always welcome.  See Ms S for information

Turkish Club
Chestnuts has a large Turkish community that is supported by Ms Esin. Every Friday she runs an after school club for our Turkish children where she helps the children to improve their English and understand their schoolwork. The club is free of charge and takes place in her room 3.40-4.30pm.

Chestnuts Breakfast and After School Club (Child care provision)
Here at Chestnuts we run our own registered child care provision offering wrap around child care for school aged children from 8am until 6pm.  Our clubs are staffed by our own school staff so the children already know them well from working with them in school.  If you are interested in applying for a place for either/both clubs details and fee structures are available from the office - please come and pick up a form or alternatively download an application form from the links below.  Both our breakfast club and after school club are extremely popular and places are limited.  If your child is in Recpetion, Year One or Year Two you could choose to send your child to Woodlands Park Nursery & Children Centre who collect children from our school everyday and take them to their after school provision.  Please contact Woodlands Park directly for more information.

Both our Breakfast and After school clubs are registered with Ofsted and as such we are able to accept child care vouchers.  If you need help in sorting out financial support please speak to Tara Kubilay in our school office for advice. (OFSTED Registration Number: EY348142).

Breakfast Club
We have an incredibly successful and popular Breakfast club. There are places for 36 children in the club which runs in our garden room just adjacent to nature garden. The club starts at 8am every morning with doors closing at 8.30am.  The children have a nutritionally balanced breakfast of fruit, fruit juice, cereal, toast with beans or eggs.  We also have porridge on the cold winter mornings.  Breakfast club is registered with Ofsted which means parents can apply for financial support with tax credits to help pay the fees (OFSTED Registration Number: EY348142). There is a fee of £2 per session which covers the child care costs, breakfast and safe hand over to class teachers at the start of the school day.

After School Club
At Chestnuts we also run our own After School club providing child care from the end of school until 6pm.  Again the club is staffed by school staff that the children know well.  This year we are also taking children from Downhills and St Ann's School.  The club can take 50 children in total and is extremely popular and busy.  The children get to use many of the school facilities such as the library, ICT suite, art resources, playgrounds and television.  We know that school ends are 3.30pm so we want to make our after school club different, exciting and fun! We will help children with their homework if they need and want help or we will support them in their play.  We want to make the club as much like being at home without actually being at home.  Again we are Ofsted registered so you can apply for Family Tax credits or child care vouchers to help with the fees.

Holiday Play Scheme
During most of the school holidays we run a holiday play scheme.  The play scheme offers child care for children from many Haringey Schools starting at 8am until 6pm.  There are options for half day or full day sessions (full day £22 or half day £13).  We can offer places for 40 children in total. We ask children to come with packed lunch but provide breakfast and early evening snack.  We plan activities such as cinema trips, trips to local parks, museums and galleries.
